NEENAH - Coming into the game as heavy underdogs, the Fond du Lac Cardinals showed no signs of weakness early Friday night. The Cardinal defense held Neenah to a 3-0 score at halftime. Neenah would eventually score 3 more in the third and an additional 3 in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 9-0. The Fond du Lac offense failed to move the ball until the early 4th quarter. Cardinal quarterback Chad Pierce ran the ball in for a 5yd touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 6-9. With time running out, the Cardinals were unable to convert an onside kick and Neenah took over and would eventually convert a 4th-and-inches for a first down to end the game. Eric Richter lead the Cardinals in rushing with 49yds on 10 carries. Cardinal punter Kyle Senn set a new Cardinal Football record for longest punt with a 79 yard blast. The previous record was 70 yards set by Kevin McCulley vs Kaukauna in 1996.
*McCulley eventually went on to have a very successful kicking and punting career at the University of Wisconsin Stout, earning several All-American awards.
