APPLETON - The Fond du Lac Cardinals started the 2005 season with a convincing 28-0 win over the Appleton East Patriots at Pickett Field. The Cardinals capitalized on two Patriot miscues early in the game to take a 20-0 lead. The first miscue, a Patriot fumble led to a 3-play Cardinal scoring drive. The second miscue, a botched Patriot punt snap led to another score. Patriot quarterback Nick Jensen was sacked in his own end zone in the third quarter leading to a 2-point Cardinal saftey. The Cardinals capped off the scoring with a 15 yard touchdown run by Wes Riggs in the forth quarter. Cardinal quarterback Chad Pierce lead the Cardinals in rushing with 95 yards on nine carries. Wes Riggs led the Cardinals in recieving with 1 catch for 36 yards.
